Ari Kobb (LEED AP) is Director of Green Building Solutions for the Building Technologies Division of
Siemens Industry, Inc., and founder and co-chair of the Division’s internal Sustainability Committee. He is responsible for ensuring Siemens leadership in the Green Building area, and leads a range of efforts including the alignment of Siemens products, services and solutions to the LEED® rating system, new solution development, strategic planning and business development. In addition, Ari provides comprehensive Green Building training throughout the organization.
As co-chair of the Siemens Internal Sustainability Committee, he has led the division’s own transition toward sustainability both corporately and throughout the field organization. This includes the development of the first comprehensive organizational CO2 inventory and the publication of the company’s first-ever sustainability report, and membership on the Siemens USA Sustainability Work Group.
“Green Boardrooms and Green Buildings: A Perspective from Corporate America”Siemens, with McGraw-Hill Construction, published The Greening of Corporate America Report in 2007. The research investigated attitudes and trends in America’s corporate boardrooms to gain an understanding of how green and green building is woven into corporate strategy. The study was revisited to investigate how far Corporate America has come in adopting sustainability and to assess the impact of today’s economic conditions on their progress. We will share the 2009 Greening of Corporate America research findings, highlighting the progress industry leaders have made in sustainability, and present a panel discussion including Sustainability leaders who are actively greening their organizations.
1. An overview of the 2009 “Greening of Corporate America” research study conducted by Siemens and McGraw Hill Construction. The research is an update to the 2006 study, that provides insight and trends over time from the C-Suite of corporate America on attitudes and actions in Sustainability and Green
2. Highlight key aspects of the research that address the role of Sustainability and the Chief Sustainability Officer in corporate strategy, and the impact and value of Sustainability efforts in today’s economic climate
3. A panel discussion including a Sustainability leader and practitioner from a firm (TBA) actively engaged in sustainability and green building efforts. This section will provide the opportunity for audience interaction with a panel of experts, to gain valuable insight into practical strategies and implementation of sustainability initiatives in the marketplace
