2009 Conference & EXPO

Thank You to All Who Attended the Green Building Focus Conference & EXPO 2009

The inaugural Green Building Focus Conference & EXPO at the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex in Birmingham, Alabama proved to be a roaring success. Both the public and private sectors along with many media outlets embraced this initial offering.

When not interacting and being absorbed by presentations, delegates roamed through the over 200 exhibition stands displaying sustainable products and GREEN services by international and regional companies.

Delegates were also treated to several various product demonstrations throughout the event. Located in the heart of the Exhibition Hall many companies took this unique opportunity to introduce their products and services to high-level construction executives.

While the Conference & EXPO came to a close on the final night, new and exciting ventures were being formulated. As part of his closing remarks Llewelyn Van Wyk announced the formation of the Birmingham Charter. Several top names in sustainable development, including numerous speakers from the event, would again converge on Birmingham, Alabama in late September. At this meeting of the minds an initial draft of the Charter will be formed. Following the meeting, Karan Grover, the world’s greenest architect, will present the Charter to the United Nations in Copenhagen when they meet in December.

The inaugural Green Building Focus Conference & EXPO was a success in every possible way. Local, Regional and International companies were exposed to numerous high-level industry professionals. Sustainable development professionals were educated, inspired and challenged by some of the most well respected names in their fields. All while Birmingham, Alabama was put on the map as the future GREEN capital of the Southeast.
